Agent: Zarate set for permanent stay at Lazio

01/14/2009 - Rome, Italy (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Mauro Zarate will definitely make his loan stay at Lazio into a permanent transfer, according to his brother and agent.

The Argentina forward is midway through a season-long loan from Qatari club Al-Sadd and Lazio have the option to make the deal permanent by triggering a release fee thought to be around $40 million.

Zarate has been linked with a move to England with big-spending Manchester City, but his agent and brother, Sergio, believes the Rome club will opt to keep hold of the eight-goal striker.

"(Lazio president Claudio) Lotito has the priority and intention to buy the player," he said.

"There is only one clause that needs to be sorted out, but everything is almost ready.

"The British club have never offered $40 million. That news has come from Argentina, but for the moment it isn't true.

"We know the value of Mauro and he is overjoyed to be in Rome."
