Buckeyes welcome Vikings to Columbus

NCAA Basketball Betting Lines

12/09/2006 - Columbus, OH (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - In what appears to be a sizeable non- conference mismatch, the fifth-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes are set to host the Cleveland State Vikings.

Don't expect Cleveland State to enter this game with much confidence, as the club has suffered back-to-back blowout defeats. After getting crushed by Butler, the Vikings dropped a 93-60 decision to Kansas State on the road Tuesday.

Ohio State has been idle since last Saturday when it rolled to a 78-58 victory over Valparaiso. That triumph enabled the squad to get back to its winning ways, as it lost to North Carolina on the road in the previous outing. In two weeks, the Buckeyes will travel to Gainesville to battle defending national champion Florida in a much-anticipated contest that will tell us a great deal about this club.

Ohio State has won four of the five all-time meetings with Cleveland State, and the programs haven't met since 1995.

Generating offense has proven to be problematic for Cleveland State, which is scoring a mere 67.6 ppg on 40.7 percent shooting from the floor, including 30.1 percent efficiency from three-point range. There is only one double-digit scorer in the lineup for CSU, as J'Nathan Bullock is posting 14.1 ppg and 6.4 rpg. No player scored more than eight points in the horrendous loss to Kansas State last time out. Bullock had eight points in the clash, but he shot a lowly 1-of-12 from the field. The Vikings connected on 32.4 percent of their field goal attempts in the tilt, including a 3-of-22 effort from behind the arc. They also turned the ball over 22 times and permitted the Wildcats to shoot a staggering 61.5 percent from the field. All of those negatives overshadowed the fact that Cleveland State earned a 26-8 offensive rebounding advantage.

Ohio State prized recruit Greg Oden finally made his long awaited debut for the team against Valparaiso and showed his vast ability. Oden played just 23 minutes off the bench, but he managed to score 14 points, grab 10 rebounds and block five shots. His wrist looked fine, and that is scary news for all opponents. Daequan Cook, another one of the Buckeyes' sensational freshmen, led the club against Valpo with 20 points on the strength of a 4-of-5 effort from behind the arc. Ohio State connected on 51.1 percent of its shots from the floor while limiting the Crusaders to 37.7 percent efficiency. The Buckeyes lead all Big Ten teams in scoring (86.1 ppg), scoring margin (+21.0 ppg), field goal percentage (.524), three-point shooting percentage (.437) and assists (17.75 apg). Ron Lewis paces the team with 17.8 ppg, and Cook is close behind with 17.6 ppg and 7.0 rpg. Ivan Harris adds 11.8 ppg to the mix for what may be the most talented team in all of college basketball.

Terrell Owens could return for Cowboys next game
A bye week will allow Terrell Owens broken hand to recover just in time for the next game the Dallas Cowboys are slated to play, according to reports. MySportsbook.com, an football sportsbook, has posted football betting lines on TO playing.

Owens broke the bone leading to his right ring finger Sunday night and had a plate surgically attached to it Monday. Although Owens' hand was swollen and aching Wednesday, Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells said he's optimistic the receiver will be back at work next week and catching passes a week from Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

MySportsbook.com online sportsbook listed Terrell Owens with odds of 7-2 (or $7 paid out for every $2 bet) to return back for the game against Tennessee.

"I certainly wouldn't rule it out now," Parcells said, referring to Terrell Owens immediate return. "Maybe five days from now I might, but I wouldn't rule it out now. ... I know we're looking to try to get him moving around pretty good in the next day or so. So we'll see where we are."

Owens did not speak with reporters Wednesday, but said Sunday he'd be out two to four weeks. A return against the Titans would be 13 days after the surgery. The Cowboys were listed as an early -7 1/2 favorite vs. the Tennessee Titans for Week 4 at MySportsbook.com
